All CUHK Staff and students are welcome

According to a member survey by the Institute of Physics, only 17% of its members in 2019 were female. Surprising? Not really. To better understand the trials and tribulations of women in science, the Faculty of Science has invited Professor Emily Ching from the Department of Physics to an online dialogue on Friday, 8 April 2022. The dialogue will be hosted by Professor Phillip Yam, Assistant Dean (Education).

Professor Ching is a professor at CUHK’s Department of Physics. She is a theoretical physicist and her research interests lie in the general area of nonlinear complex systems including, in particular, fluid turbulence. She has received several awards and honours including Fellowship of the American Physical Society, Senior Research Fellowship of the Croucher Foundation, Achievement in Asia Award of the Overseas Chinese Physics Association (now known as the International Organization of Chinese Physicists and Astronomers), and the Faculty Exemplary Teaching Award. She is currently serving as an Associate Editor of Physical Review E and a member of the Editorial Committee of Annual Review of Condensed Matter Physics.
